Leak, a creature in the form of a head and the contents of innards that float looking for victims are very popular in Bali. Many reports have become eyewitnesses about the appearance of this Leak. no wonder, every month die (night without moon) there is always a special ritual in the temple to protect the people from the disturbance of Leak.

Leak is believed to be the incarnation of people who master the science of 'black'. Leaks are also believed to be able to kill humans briefly, or slowly with prolonged suffering.

Where did Leak come from? That said, Leak has a long story since the days of the kingdom in Indonesia. narrated during the reign of Airlangga (1006 - 1042 AD) in East Java, living a magical mandraguna widow named Dayu Datu from Girah Village. This village is located in the coastal region of the Kingdom of Kediri. This Dayu Datu came to be known as Calonarang.

the candidate wrote all his magic into a "Book" - which his followers called the Book of Calonarang. But later, Mpu Bharadah succeeded in defeating Calonarang and securing the book so that his knowledge was not widespread.

the problem should have been solved here if only Calonarang's students were killed. Unfortunately, they managed to escape to Bali. The knowledge they have learned from the teacher has been preserved until now we call it Leak.

what's interesting is that at that time, the popular religion was the Tantrayana Buddhism. Tantrayana teaches shortcuts to Moksa. the ceremonies carried out included dancing on the graves with musical accompaniment (kangsi and humanak instruments) while drinking blood and eating corpses carried out at night naked.

This teaching was also followed by King Kertanegara (1268-1292 AD) from Singasari. in this way there was a meeting of the souls between the ritual performers and the goddess (see also the Tantu Panggelaran dissertation text from Th. Pigeud 1924). although the Tantra Teachings are intended for good not evil, but it is believed Calon Arang also performed a similar ritual that he did to worship / beg Btari Durga, who incidentally was one of the goddesses of Hindu religion. Synritism?

Leak: Left Flow Science

in all beliefs, the word "left" always connotes bad, or against the mainstream. Likewise in Balinese society, the word "left" also includes classifying sciences or teachings that are contrary to norms and religion. in this case, Leak or pengeleakan is classified into "Aji Wegig". Aji means knowledge, and wegig is a nature that likes to disturb others. Because of its negative nature, this science is called "Ngiwa" (Ngiwa as long as it says kiwa (Balinese) means leftngiwa means to do kiwa deeds aka left).

This leak science can be learned on palm oil which contains a series of black magic. lontar-lontar or ancient books made from palm leaves which are made in such a way that are 30 cm long and 3 cm wide, on top of them are written in Balinese script with very sacred language.

Calonarang students who fled to Bali wrote the Pengleakan Science on the Lontar book and made it in four books, namely:

1. Lontar Cambra Berag,

2. Gold Sampling,

3. Throwing the Gold Tanting,

4. Lontar Jung Biru.

leak science itself consists of several levels:

1. Lower Level Leak Science.

People who can speak at this level can change their form into animals such as monkeys, dogs, white chickens, goats, sows (bangkung) and others.

2. Middle Level Leak Science

people who can speak at this level have been able to change their form into Garuda birds can fly high, venomous beaks and claws, eyes can come out fire, can also be transformed into Jaka Tungul or palm trees without leaves whose stem can emit fire and poisonous stench .3. High Level Leak Sciencethe person who can speak this level can change his form to Bade in the form of a twenty-one-storey corpse or overlap in the Balinese language and the whole body of the tower contains soaring fire that everything can be scorchedto ashes.Still fortunately, these sciences were only part of what Calonarang's students remembered. While reportedly, the contents of the book Calonarang itself are far more frightening. So you can imagine if the book was found ...
